Heritage Open Day – September 20th 2026

Friends of Haworth Art Gallery with the Mayor, Councillor Noordad Aziz, Consort Kimberley Whitehead and Gillian Berry, Gallery Manager

Today was the Heritage Open Day at the gallery and the first public showing of the audio-visual presentation about the staff who worked for the Haworth’s at Hollins Hill between 1909 and 1920. The mayor attended, opened the day and stayed for most of the afternoon joining in the activities. Several of us were dressed in Edwardian style costumes arousing a lot of interest.

We had out all the heritage games and giant bubbles, as well as the spinning tops. We also ran a tombola to raise a bit for our funds. It was quite a busy afternoon with 188 people attending from many different backgrounds. The games were popular as was the tombola, with many people having a go. The craft session organised by the gallery was well attended and good fun.

The audio-visual presentation shown on the big screen, was well received and we got loads of positive comments as well as lots of questions. This will be used by the gallery for many different events in the coming years.

Thanks to all who helped in any way to make this event yet another success for us.
